Helping widows and the elderly

Part of the vision of 5000Plus is that communities, as they prosper, should be empowered to help the elderly, widows, orphans, the vulnerable and disabled.

Caudensia is an elderly widow and until recently had very little income to even feed herself. She was living in a rickety, leaky, mud house in imminent danger of collapse. She had land but no means of getting it productive. Through the work of our partner Grace Development Foundation she has been enabled to get her land productive growing maize and increasing her income. She now has a new safe home, she grows vegetables near her house for extra food and her sense of well-being and dignity is much improved.
